The Program's History

The History of EATWISE

This is the history of an idea becoming part of a movement. This is the history of EATWISE. EATWISE was created in Fall 2004 as an after school program at the Food & Finance High School. In Spring 2006 FoodChange had an idea. This idea was to mold teens into nutrition educators. The name of this program is EATWISE academic interns. EATWISE academic interns get to learn about nutrition and gain facilitation and other leadership skills. EATWISE continue learning about nutrition and food systems, and educating other young people! In the Fall of 2008, EATWISE expanded into all five boroughs, starting chapters in seven schools.
